朝は火を起こすことから始まります。
The morning begins with making a fire.
サハラ砂漠、１１月終わり。ここから見えた日の出は７時５分。
Sahara Desert, late November. The sunrise visible from here is at 7:05 am.
砂漠でのスカーフの巻き方、教わりました。きつ過ぎず、ゆるくもなく、一日ストレスなくつけていられるなんてすごい！
I learned how to wrap a scarf in the desert. It’s amazing how it can be worn comfortably all day without being too tight or too loose—no stress!”
さあ、３日目。
今日は、どんな砂漠の表情に出会えるかな？
Well, it’s the third day.
I wonder what kind of desert landscapes I will encounter today?”
スカーフも、民族衣装のブラウスも、南チュニジアの、砂漠の入口であるドゥーズ（Douz)の町で購入できます。
You can purchase scarves and traditional clothes at the town of Douz, the gateway to the desert in south Tunisia.
どこもかしこも砂なんだけど、あんまり気にならない。何なら砂に全身埋められたりしても気持ち良かった！
Everywhere is covered in sand, but it’s not too bothersome. In fact, it feels surprisingly pleasant, even if I end up completely covered in sand!
ラクダの背中からのながめ。思ったより高くて初めは怖かったけど、慣れると揺れが気持ちよくて眠くなってきます。３０分くらい乗ってみました。でも、やっぱり自分の足で歩くのが楽しい。
The view from the back of a camel. It was higher than I expected, and initially, it was a bit scary. However, once you get used to it, the swaying becomes soothing, and it makes feel sleepy. I rode for about 30 minutes. But, ultimately, walking on my own feet is more enjoyable.
ランチ休憩。これから荷物をほどいてもらいます。

早う、荷物下ろさんかい！
っていう感じ（笑）
ラクダがこんな姿勢で休んでいるのは疲れすぎている証拠。あまりいい兆しではないのだそう。（でも、数時間後には、ふつうにらくだ座りしてて安心）。
The fact that the camel is resting in this position is a sign of being too tired. It’s not a good sign, but a few hours later, it’s usually sitting comfortably, which is reassuring.
これが正当なラクダ座り。
This is the proper camel sit.
ランチの後、２時間くらい歩くと見つけたサイン。こんな砂漠の中にカフェがあるらしい！
After about two hours of walking post-lunch, we found a sign. It seems there’s a cafe in the midst of this desert!
オフ・ロードのトラックやバイクの休憩所になっているんだそう。
It serves as a rest stop for off-road trucks and bikes.
久しぶりに飲んだ、ファンタオレンジの甘さがたまらなく美味しかった。しかも良く冷えて！
The sweetness of Fanta Orange, enjoyed after a long time, was irresistibly delicious. And it was nicely chilled too!
トイレもあった！
There was even a restroom!
動画に雑音が入るのは、スマホに砂予防のためのカバーをかけているためです。こちらに帰ってくるまで動画のチェックをしていなかったのでほとんどの動画がチェカチェカしてます。あったのは静寂、または風の音か、ハエの飛ぶ音。自分の足音、息遣い。
The background noise in the videos is due to having a cover on the smartphone for sand protection. I haven’t checked the videos until returning home, so most of them have that rough sound. What I did capture is the silence, the sound of the wind, the buzzing of flies. My own footsteps and breath.
夕食はガーリックのスープにクスクス、野菜や肉の煮込み。ラクダ使いのナサールの料理は美味しくて、サハラに来て太って帰ることになるね、と私たちは言いながらお代わりをしました（笑）。
Dinner is usually garlic soup, couscous, and a stew of vegetables and meat. The dishes prepared by the camel driver Nassar were so delicious that we joked about gaining weight during our time in the Sahara. As we helped ourselves to seconds, we couldn’t help but appreciate the flavors.
火を囲む、夜のひと時も格別。
Gathering around the fire, the moments of the night were also truly special.
野菜の煮込み。ジャガイモがとっても美味しかった。
The stewed vegetables, especially the potatoes, were incredibly delicious.
夜中、トイレに外に出て驚きました。こんな月、見たことない！
まるで月のまわりだけ、ぽっかりと大きな穴でも空いたような。
残念ながら、写真はそれを正確に写し出すことができてないようです。だから、テントから寝袋を引っ張り出して外で寝ることに。この不思議な月を、ずっと見ていようと思って。
In the middle of the night, when I went outside , I was amazed. I had never seen a moon like this before!
It looked as if there was a gaping hole around the moon, so big and surreal. Unfortunately, photos couldn’t capture it accurately. That’s why I decided to pull out my sleeping bag from the tent and sleep outside. I wanted to keep watching this mysterious moon for as long as possible.
